What is your favorite place in Japan?

The Trilingual ChatboxのMaiです。

Next, I am going to talk about the same thing in English. You can check how much you understood.

Hi, Japanese language learners, I`m Mai from The Trilingual Chatbox. For this first individual episode, I`m going to talk about “My favorite place in Japan”. There are countless beautiful places in Japan, so it`s not easy to choose one. But this time, I am going to choose one place that impressed me the most and I want to visit again.

Let me get straight to the point, my favorite place in Japan I choose this time is “Kyoto”. It might be a boring answer for you because it is such a famous place, but it is a great place, so I had to choose it.  In Japan, many students visit Koto as a school trip in elementary or junior high school. My junior high school trip was to Kyoto and Nara as well. When I was a junior high school student, like many other students, I didn`t appreciate shrines and temples so I enjoyed shopping and chatting with my friends more. But when I went there again in my early 20s, I really liked the place. I felt like I can have peace of mind there. The second time I visited Kyoto was in summer, so it was extremely hot, and it was so difficult to walk around but I enjoyed picturing the ancient city of Kyoto by looking at traditional Japanese gardens, walking through the bamboo forest, and visiting shrines and temples. I`m thinking to visit Kyoto in spring or autumn next time. The weather is mild in spring and autumn, and also you can take amazing pictures of shrines and temples with cherry Blossoms in spring and yellow leaves in autumn. And it would be great if you walk around the town in a beautiful Yukata eating matcha ice cream.  If you haven’t visited Kyoto before, you should definitely visit the place. I really recommend it.
