1. A is more… 

This writer is more popular.

這個作家比較受歡迎。_{(zhè gè zuò jiā bǐ jiào shòu huān yíng)}

這個作家更受歡迎。_{(zhè gè zuò jiā gèng shòu huān yíng)}

この作家はもっと人気があります。
_{このさっかはもっとにんきがあります。}

(You can use “より” instead of “もっと”. “より” sounds a bit more formal than”もっと”.)

2. A does… better.

The novelist has more books published every year.

這位小說家每年出版的書比較多。_{(zhè wèi xiǎo shuō jiā měi nián chū bǎn de shū bǐ jiào duō)}
